As a world leader that has been operating in level and pressure measurement instruments for over 60 years, VEGA employs over 2,600 people worldwide, 1,200 of whom work at its headquarters at Schiltach in the Black Forest. This is where solutions to demanding measuring tasks are being conceived and turned into reality: for chemical and pharmaceutical plants, food and beverage manufacture, drinking water supply and sewage treatment plants, landfills, mining operations, power generation, oil platforms, recycling, shipping and aerospace industries. Daniele Romano, Sales Director at VEGA Italia, talked about the company's plans for Pharmintech.
“Pharmintech is the most important event in Italy dedicated to the chemicals and pharmaceutical industry”, stated Mr Romano “Taking part in the fair allows us to strengthen existing relationships and to engage in dialogue with all those involved along the process chain and within the pharmaceutical industry. Our presence at the fair means we can meet people first hand to share the latest information about our level and pressure measurement technology and to discuss market trends and the increasingly challenging requirements the industry has to meet.”
“VEGA supplies dependable solutions for level and pressure measurement, offering customers a unique technology partner for measurement applications in the pharmaceutical industry.” Daniele Romano continued: “In recent years, we have worked hard to grow a broad portfolio of solutions that address the requirements of each application, channelling significant funds into certifications, process fittings, and contact materials. Today, a pharmaceuticals manufacturer, a plant construction firm, or a skid builder can come to VEGA with the confidence that they will find the right solution for them, assisted by a team of measurement consultants to make sure they choose the ideal instrument for each application. “
“Sustainability is the key to a future based on safety and optimal use of resources, and VEGA makes a significant contribution to this area”, stated the Sales Manager. “Our measurement technology offers sustainable solutions and our robust, long-lasting products provide optimal performance that customers can count on for decades. VEGA sensors and systems increase plant productivity, enhance processes, save energy and raw materials, and reduce the environmental impacts of industry.”
And he continued: “When we are focusing on environmental sustainability, it is important to stress that sustainable development is a shared goal within the VEGA group. There is no development without sustainability. VEGA is committed to reducing its impacts in the power industry. More specifically, we are committed to continuously improving our energy performance and actively combating climate change by using more renewable energy and investing in initiatives to make our buildings more energy efficient and lower emissions. “
“The future of instrumentation lies not only in the inclusion of high-precision reliable sensors but also in interconnection” concluded Mr Romano. “VEGA has been offering digitalisation-ready solutions for some time now; all sensors feature Bluetooth technology for calibration and diagnostics as standard. One key aspect of increasing digitalisation is ensuring effective protection against cyber-attacks. To tackle this issue, we have adopted the latest cyber security standard, IEC 62443-4-2. Specifically, our VEGAPULS 6X radar sensor meets the highest cyber security standards currently available for the process industries.
VEGA provides a cloud for the creation of a digital image of the sensor installed on the plant, offering a secure, accessible digital service for every need. This platform provides operators with a series of advantages, including, allowing them to configure their instruments, view orders, and download all the documents associated with the sensors purchased, i.e. user manuals, certificates and 3D drawings. It also features synchronisation with the calibration app, which means all the activities that an operator or plant technician performs using the app can be made available on the myVEGA digital platform.
Working in partnership with leading companies and associations, VEGA is also laying the foundation for future IoT applications in process industries with the Ethernet Advanced Physical Layer (Ethernet-APL). Ethernet-APL marks a breakthrough in technology for digitalisation and networking, as it allows the development of solutions for automation and data management systems that are more efficient, reliable, and sophisticated than those employed to date. This is a significant step forward, then, in the creation of more intelligent and responsive industrial operations that align with the objectives of Industry 4.0.”
